How to Clear Acne

By

If you are looking for remedies to clear acne you will find so many medications, tips and suggestions that it is hard to decide which treatments really work. Depending upon how you feel about your appearance will be directly proportional to how you attack the problem. Some medical researchers believe that acne can be inherited but most think changes in the body, hormonal changes or allergic reactions to foods and medications, could be a leading factor in skin problems. Also, using oil based products and cosmetics could exacerbate flare-ups.

To fight the acne battle you must first understand your enemy. Oily skin is not a bad thing, per se, it helps keep moisture in and promotes less wrinkling of the skin but an over active sebaceous gland can hinder your goal of a clean and clear complexion. Most acne is caused by pores that are clogged with dead skin cells and dirt. A poor diet and hygiene are not a cause of acne but could contribute.

The unfortunate truth about curing and/or reducing acne flare-ups is that everyone is different and what works for one may not work for all. If you choose to go the home remedy route you will have to, in a sense, conduct your own “clinical” trials. Start off by searching for and gathering materials that you will use to see which best works for you. Document everything then use them for approximately 4 to 5 weeks to make sure the results are either acceptable or not. If there is no change in the condition of your skin continue the search. Remember to moisturize after using products that dry the skin excessively.

How to Wash Your Face to Clear up Acne

The simplest and most direct treatment of some acne problems is to keep the skin clean and free of oily buildup. Washing with a hypo-allergenic soap and water is always recommended but the amount of times to wash per day has been debated vigorously. Some doctors suggest one to two times per day while others suggest 3 to 4 times. Trial and error will be your guide. Start the first week by only washing once a day and document the results. For the second week you will wash two times a day and so on until you reach week four. This will give you a clear view of how much washing your skin can take. Once you have this information you can use it as a base and start using other home remedies. In conjunction with keeping your skin clean and free of too much oil secretions a healthy diet and lifestyle could assist with blemish free skin.

Oatmeal is highly recommended for cleaning the skin and assist with clearing up acne. The simple truth to oatmeal is that it draws out excess oil from the skin. Simply follow the directions on the box to prepare the oatmeal but allow it to cool down completely before applying. Once it is ready spread it evenly about the face or infected area and let stand for 15 to 20 minutes then wash it off. Repeat once a day for several weeks to see if the results are desirable.

Exfoliating the skin regularly is another typical solution to cleaning the skin. Normal baking soda has been used before as a scrubbing solution for removing dead skin cells and oily buildup. Create a paste with baking soda and water, then gently scrub the skin where needed and rinse immediately.

Using acidic home remedies such as vinegar, lemon or lime juice mixed with water can be harmful to your skin if recipes are not followed closely. An 8 to 1 solution in favor of these astringents on the face for five minutes kill bacteria but also dries the skin. Moisturizing lotions will be needed after these remedies are used.

How about an omelet to cure those nasty pimples? Egg whites are said to clear the complexion because it absorbs oils. Using only egg whites mix in a bowl and smear onto the face or body. Wait for fifteen to twenty minutes and then rinse off.

For women, cosmetics may be the cause of acne and simply changing brands or using less make-up could make all the difference.

Patience is one of the requirements when learning how to clear up acne and photographing your problem areas after each test or each day will give you a better “picture” of how your body is reacting. If you have noticed a trend with home remedies and even with medications you will see that keeping the skin clean and moisturized is the precursor to having a healthy complexion.
